There are so many people who are overweight or obese, due in large part to the standard fat and sugar-laden Western diet. And since not every diet is suited to everyone who needs to lose weight, having several weight loss solutions or options available to you is clearly a plus.
Weight loss hypnosis, which is normally achieved through verbal repetitions and mental images administered by the hypnotist, is designed to reprogram the mind and help alleviate the cravings and hunger pangs that are usually associated with losing weight - thus allowing 'effortless' weight loss.
According to psychologists, weight problems, as well as many other difficulties we have in life, stem from our subconscious mind and how we relate to food. Often times our up-bringing has a huge impact on whether or not we can lose weight successfully.

Basically, the premise behind weight loss hypnosis is to open up the mind so that it is more receptive to suggestions. As you are in an altered state of consciousness, the hypnotist makes suggestions (such as quick weight loss tips) that you can implement once the session is over, and the scientific community believes this will indeed help you to achieve weight loss.

*Through weight loss hypnosis you come to understand that instead of just 'dieting' you need to learn to change your eating habits permanently. And with this change of eating habits, you should feel less deprived than when you are strictly dieting.
*Spending less time thinking of food is another component of weight loss hypnosis. Thinking of how much weight you might lose and what your next meal will be are typical distractions when you are on a 'diet'. By making one small change at a time, you are more likely to concentrate on making that change, and less likely to have that feeling of being deprived all the time.
People who have the ability and willingness to open their minds and allow the practitioners to take control are the most likely candidates of successful hypnosis. And although it has been shown that most people can be hypnotized with no problem, if they choose to, some just don't like the feeling of not being in control of what's going on and so don't care for the experience.
If you are one of these people who likes to be in total control, using self-affirmations along with the help of a support person seems to be a viable alternative to hypnosis. And, since hypnosis can be fairly expensive, there are CD's available that claim the same effectiveness and are much more convenient to help with your affirmations.
